A swell time.

If they please, men in the 1910s could indulge in a spiffier hairstyle than the center part. Or like Henry Walthall here, try to tame curls into side parted oiled waves.

And nowadays I'm fond of discovering the classic 1910s side parts, a portent of future hairstyles to comb. (Sorry not sorry.) Well, now for diving more specifically into the Slicked Back Look. It was what is now a hallmark style of the 1910s. Or maybe we look back on this time and find it to be one of the most different from our modern styles 😄. This hairstyle did define an era.

If you give your hair a generous covering of oil, you too can achieve this style. Then, comb all your hair back starting from your forehead. Yes, all of it, no parting here! And for us we found this works best if your hair is longer on the top and shorter on the sides. If not, another style you can try is the 1910s side part. And, well, chance is you’ll find something that works for you!

I like to imagine it was breezier than having a whole wad of hair hanging on my head.

(In the hypotheticals. Can’t really recall how it felt.)

The gel must’ve weighed it down like a brick!

Can’t argue with the way things are now,

but longer hair is tougher to tame.

I like to think the fellas liked this style.
