Summer has finally arrived, and with it the coquette desire to cut strawberries into little flowers and set dandelion heads on fire with your lighter. This powerful, feminine look is sure to send the message: hey, I need my space! Unless you’re hot… and rich! lol!
There’s nothing better than late summer evenings, when golden hour seems to last for days. It perfectly compliments your Elie shimmergloss lip plumper and Maybel cake foundation! But what if you want to shake it up for the summer? Take the time to really dive in to self-care and self-fulfillment? I know I do!
I like to put on this look while listening to meditation tapes, eating a healthy breakfast, and setting my goals and intentions for the day! What are your summer goals and intentions? Mine are to drink more champagne and to stop thinking about this girl I met! Do you see your goal? Can you visualize it? Well, let’s go out and GET it with this bold new tutorial that’s all about summer LOVE, summer FUN, and summer GETTING OVER IT!!
1. PICK YOUR PALETTE
All skin tones can benefit from this tutorial, but in general, you should use sparklier tints on lighter skin tones to keep it balanced with your features, and brighter tints on darker skin tones to make them pop!

2. LAY DOWN A BASE
Summer is a great time to stick to the basics! Remember, heat means sweat, and sweat means oil, and oil means nobody will ever love you! Use a powder foundation to soak up all those pores and sweat and keep you looking smooth as a cue ball!
Do your concealer like you normally would! Wonder if it’s the same brand as the one she uses! Decide that she doesn’t use concealer at all, probably! Shudder at the thought. Summer light will be long and soft, so don’t be afraid to color correct with green or scabs!
If your skin tends to run cold, brush on a little bronzer to highlight your cheekbones (do they look like her cheekbones?) If your skin tends to have warm undertones, cool it off with contouring just under your jaw (what does her skin feel like under her jaw? Is it fuzzy, like a peach? Or smooth?)
3. PICK YOUR BLUSH
By now you should have a pretty good idea of what your natural blush looks like! I’m sure she does, too!
Summer is a great time to play up the rosiness and natural glow of your face, so a honey-pink blush is my FAVORITE to use around this time of year! Make sure to move your brush in slow, gentle circles from the apple of your cheek, to your nose, to the side of your face, to the dip of your throat, to the flat surface of your tongue as you imagine you’re tasting her hair! As you imagine she’s lying down next to you and you’re eating her starting from the top!
Remember to seal each layer. We don't want any surprises!
4. EYES EYES EVERYWHERE!
Using your palette from earlier, outline your crease in the color most like her eyes! Choose her favorite color for the main body of your eyeshadow and apply it in soft, circular puffs out to cover your entire eyelid.
For a fun, flirty summer accent, take a white eyeliner and dot some hearts around the edges of it! For a fun, flirty summer accent, take a black eyeliner and cross them all out! Do this over and over until all you can see is her eyes, and her favorite color! And her eyes! and her favorite color!
4. AND HER EYES!
Smile like she used to smile at you bright and open like the morning sun like a wound
4. AND HER FAVORITE COLOR!
make sure to do your mascara the way she would which is to not do it
4. AND HER EYES!
approach the mirror. hold your breath so you don't fog it up
4. AND HER FAVORITE COLOR!
blink. she blinks. smile. she smiles.
4. AND HER EYES!
become too afraid
4. AND HER FAVORITE COLOR!
to kiss her
4. AND HER EYES!
become too afraid
4. AND HER FAVORITE COLOR!
do it anyway
